JULIETTE DUMAS &
ANDREW ERDOS
TERRA FIRMA
DANTON SHOWROOM, Paris
March 20 – April 26, 2025
Clara Darrason is pleased to present Terra Firma, an exhibition by Juliette Dumas and Andrew Erdos. Through millennia-old techniques—fresco, glassblowing, and metal casting—the artists explore the agency of materials within this liminal space between nature and abstraction.
Dumas and Erdos have mastered crafts that emerged millennia ago in the Fertile Crescent (Egypt, Mesopotamia), using earth (sand), fire, water, and air as primary resources. These fundamental elements operate as cardinal points of the exhibition.
The artists aspire to the principles theorized by Jirô Hoshihara in the Gutai Art Manifesto: "the human spirit and matter shake hands with each other while keeping their distance. Matter never compromises itself with the spirit; the spirit never dominates matter”.
