SELEBE YOON, Dakar
December 1 - March 9, 2024
Vertigineuses at Selebe Yoon, co-curated by Clara Darrason and Jennifer Houdrouge, brings together five artists—Shahrzad Changalvaee, Melinda Fourn, Naomi Lulendo, Attandi Trawalley, and Nelly Zagury—who explore themes of personal and collective memory, the domestic and the supernatural, through sculpture, painting, and immersive installations. Blending craft, mythology, and intimate narratives, their works manifest as sensorial landscapes, where the monumental meets the ephemeral. From Trawalley’s crocheted hair sculptures to Changalvaee’s saline terrains, Fourn’s oversized satala to Lulendo’s totemic structures, and Zagury’s dreamlike figures, each artist reclaims space through gestures of care, resistance, and transformation. Vertigineuses unfolds as a chorus of contemporary oracles, celebrating sisterhood and the power of storytelling through materiality and myth.
